High school students participating in the TCNJ Artificial Intelligence & Wireless Communications Camp will construct machine learning algorithms from the ground up in state-of-the-art engineering laboratories. The program focuses on practical application, allowing students to implement concepts in Python software and work in teams on projects like adaptive image recognition using Google Vision or Raspberry Pi-based AI kits. Participants will gain insights into intelligent handwriting and facial recognition hardware and software development, as well as microstrip antennas, a key component of modern wireless communication. The camp aims to prepare students for careers in science, engineering, finance, and medicine, fields increasingly impacted by wireless AI technologies. Each student will receive an engineering experimentation kit valued at $100 for continued learning at home.
Between 9am and 5pm, TCNJ ECE faculty provide short lectures on topics like supervised machine learning, followed by hands-on tasks such as implementing concepts in Python software.
This program is ideal for creative high school students with an interest in science, math, engineering, artificial intelligence, or wireless communications, including those with experience in non-STEM areas.
