Students gain practical experience building AI-powered embedded systems and presenting a prototype, all while experiencing college life on a university campus.
The AI and Engineering Summer Lab at Montclair State University is a one-week immersive residential program designed for high school students interested in Artificial Intelligence (AI), deep learning, and embedded systems. Participants will gain hands-on experience by working with Raspberry Pi's and other microcontrollers, utilizing coding languages such as Python and C. The curriculum focuses on building intelligent devices that can sense, learn, and respond to their environment using AI models, cameras, and various sensors. By the end of the program, students will understand fundamental programming principles, the basics of machine learning and artificial neural networks, and how to design and build AI-powered embedded systems. The program culminates in a collaborative project where students present a final AI engineering prototype system.
For most programs, students will be in their academic classes from approximately 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a break for lunch. The rest of the time is spent enjoying other aspects of campus life and co-curricular activities.
This program is ideal for high school students (rising 10th-12th graders) who are eager to explore AI and engineering through hands-on projects and experience college life.
