Campers will perform magical physics demonstrations and build multiple take-home projects, including a solar-powered car, catapult, and homemade binoculars.
The Physics Fun Camp at HealthQuest Fitness Center offers an engaging and interactive experience for middle school-aged campers (7-12 years old) interested in the wonders of physics. Participants will delve into magical physics demonstrations covering fundamental concepts such as Newton's laws of motion, electricity, air pressure, ultraviolet light, and optics. Through hands-on activities, campers will gain practical skills by building solar-powered cars and catapults, and experimenting with spinning tops and gyroscopic motion. The camp focuses on fostering an understanding of scientific principles through exciting projects, allowing campers to construct their own fountains and binoculars. Each camper will take home several of their creations, including a gyroscope, solar car, catapult, Tippe Top, fountain, and homemade binoculars, providing tangible reminders of their scientific explorations and achievements.
A typical day involves performing magical physics demonstrations and engaging in hands-on building projects like solar cars and catapults, with daily swimming in the afternoon (weather permitting) for full-day campers.
This camp is best for children aged 7-12 who have a keen interest in science, enjoy hands-on experiments, and want to explore the principles of physics in a fun and interactive environment.
