The AI and Engineering Summer Lab at Montclair State University offers a one-week immersive experience for high school students interested in artificial intelligence, deep learning, and embedded systems. Participants will gain hands-on experience by building intelligent devices that sense, learn, and respond to their environment. The program utilizes coding languages such as Python and C, along with Raspberry Pi's and other microcontrollers. Students will learn fundamental programming principles, understand the basics of machine learning and artificial neural networks, and design and build AI-powered embedded systems. The program culminates in a collaborative presentation of a final AI engineering prototype system to the class and parents.
For most programs, students will be in their academic classes from approximately 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a break for lunch, and the rest of the time is spent enjoying campus and residential life, including at least one off-campus field trip.
This program is designed for curious and ambitious high school students in grades 9-11 who want to explore their interests in AI and engineering and gain clarity about future majors and careers.
