About this camp

The TCNJ iSTEM Summer Academy challenges middle and high school students to become problem solvers through hands-on learning across STEM disciplines. Participants will engage in creative thinking as they design and innovate unique solutions, fabricate prototypes, and prepare for future careers. The academy offers two distinct week-long day camps: iSTEM MakerCraft and iSTEM Automation and Robotics.

In the iSTEM MakerCraft camp, students gain experience in product design, learning to use CAD software for wearable product design and Matlab and Simulink for device programming. They'll get hands-on experience with 3D printing, laser cutting, coding, and basic electronics. The iSTEM Automation and Robotics camp focuses on programming microcontroller devices for robotics and automation. Campers will design automated circuits, create real-world prototypes using rapid prototyping technology, and program in the MathWorks Simulink environment to control their robots.
