About this camp

The Rutgers Makerspace Kids Camp offers middle and high school students an immersive, hands-on experience in robotics and engineering. Campers will engage in the engineering design process, from identifying real-world problems to designing, building, testing, and presenting innovative solutions. Students will gain practical skills in CAD software, 3D printing, and laser cutting to create body modifications for off-the-shelf R/C cars. They will also assemble and configure electronics, including Raspberry Pi 3 B+ and microcontrollers, to program and train their vehicles to be autonomous. The camp emphasizes design thinking, iteration, and technical proficiency, culminating in presentations where students showcase their projects and develop college and career-ready engineering skills. Participants will also be exposed to Python programming, computer vision, and machine learning concepts as they train their autonomous R/C vehicles.
