Junior Space Explorer camp offers an immersive experience for children aged 7-9, fostering a love for astronomy and space exploration. Campers will engage in hands-on activities and experiments, including building and launching rockets, experimenting with screaming balloon rockets, and using solar glasses to observe the sun. They will also construct and utilize a Star Finder, build a telescope, and create a glow-in-the-dark model of Saturn. The curriculum includes designing a UV bracelet, building a sundial, and modeling our solar system, providing a comprehensive introduction to space science. Through these projects, children will develop observational skills, learn about celestial bodies, and gain a foundational understanding of physics and engineering principles.
A typical day includes a morning greeting and science demonstration, followed by two science lessons before lunch. The afternoon features two more science lessons and snack time, concluding with cleanup and pickup.
