Students ages 11-17 participate in a one-week intensive program where they gain real hardware and software robotics skills by designing, 3D-printing, wiring, assembling, and programming their own functional drone. The camp emphasizes hands-on learning, moving beyond simply flying drones to understanding the underlying engineering principles. Participants will learn electronics, CAD design, and basic soldering. By the end of the week, students will not only know how to fly a drone but also comprehend how intelligent machines operate, providing a foundational understanding applicable to autonomous vehicles, robotics, and AI-driven systems. Students leave with a documented engineering project—a custom drone they designed, built, and flew—which can serve as a valuable portfolio piece for college applications. Multi-week students will engage in progressively complex builds, upgrading their drones with new systems and components each week.
A typical day runs from 9 AM to 3 PM, with students engaging in hands-on engineering activities, CAD design, electronics, software instruction, and flight time, mentored by active engineering students.
